Back in action!
After a year of not having internet and, therefore, not updating this very frequently, we now have internet. I will be trying to update regularly. I'm excited. I have had this site for like 7 years or something rediculous and we've had our ups and downs, but I have alwasy liked xanga, but now its kind of a relationship of necessity and convenience, because I want to keep up with people! I like reading people's updates and I like letting everyone know whats going on. I could send out those emails to like everyone in my address book, or you could just come here at your convenience and read what's up with me. So here's what's up with me:
We moved to Chicago about a month ago. I like it here a lot. We've had some visitors already and my mom's coming to visit in a couple weeks. We've done lots of cool things like going to see the fireworks at Navy Pier, going to the beach on Lake Michigan, riding the transit system around a lot. I've been to a knit group even, and a couple yarn stores. I started applying for jobs the first week we were here and had an interveiw a couple weeks ago. Yesterday they called and offered me the job! I am pretty excited to have a job already, and even though it's part-time, it still seems like a pretty good job (working in an clerical office in a hospital). When we moved to Wichita, I had like 3 months where I didn't have a job, or at least not one worth having. So it's a good feeling.
I really like our apartment here. It's a two level apartment in an old building that's been completely redone--new kitchen and nice hardwood floors and painted nicely (not plain white)-- in a pretty decent neighborhood. We're close to buses and reasonably close to the train lines, so getting around is easy. We got rid of David's car before we moved and I am glad we did, because we don't really do much driving at all and parking is crazy. But we like it a lot.
David's started his job. He likes it so far. He had two weeks of (unpaid!) orientation and then he started real work yesterday. He thinks he will like it a lot. I hope he does. He doesn't think the hours will be too bad either. I hope that also.
Well I guess thats really all I've got for right now, but I will write more soon. New things are always happening and stuff. If other people want to start updating their blogs more I would read them. We can start a xanga renaissance! By the way, do you like my new color scheme?

I like it and I'm glad you're blogging again. I like to read about what's on your mind!
Love you...
Mom
I like the lay out bunches and bunches- i request you but photos of your apartment and 'hood
When people ask where i've been they always say "you go to california or chicago?"and i say yeah i'v been to chicago. And then they say something like "oh my god- guns and gangs"
which makes me laugh cause they only watch movies and have never been there.
